On When Calls the Heart, Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith play fan-favorite couple Rosemary and Leland Coulter. Now, the two actors are teaming up for another Hallmark Channel project. They’ll star in the upcoming movie You Had Me at Aloha, airing in summer 2021.

‘You Had Me at Aloha’ was filmed on location in Oahu

So far, we don’t have too many details about You Had Me at Aloha, which will air as part of Hallmark’s “Summer Nights” programming event. But we do know that the movie was filmed on location in Hawaii. Hutton shared an update from set in a March 26 Instagram post.

“That’s a wrap on You Had Me at Aloha and I just want to share my profound gratitude to the beautiful island of Oahu and our talented crew here in Hawaii for bringing the spirit of Aloha to our little movie,” wrote the actor, who has also appeared in the SyFy show Santuary and the Canadian TV series Arctic Air. “This was a dream project tor @kavansmith & me and I can’t wait to share it with all of you,” she added.

Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith’s new Hallmark movie airs June 5

You Had Me at Aloha will premiere Saturday, June 5 on Hallmark Channel. It’s one of four new movies airing on the network in June, Entertainment Tonight reported.

Other premieres include Baker’s Son, starring Eloise Mumford and Brant Daugherty; Her Pen Pal, starring Mallory Jansen and Hallmark newcomer Josh Sasse; and Sand Dollar Cove, an adaptation of Nancy Naigle’s novel starring Chad Michael Murray and Aly Michalka.

According to ET, in You Had Me at Aloha, Hutton plays Paige, the new host of a travel show that’s filming in Hawaii. Smith (who has also appeared in Stargate: Atlantis and Eureka) plays Ben, Paige’s co-host. The two initially clash over competing ideas for the show, but eventually realize that their differences provide balance both on- and off-screen.

Smith and Hutton talked about Rosemary and Lee’s evolution ‘When Calls the Heart’

While fans will have to wait a bit to see Hutton and Smith in their new movie, the pair continue to appear together in When Calls the Heart Season 8, which airs Sunday nights on Hallmark Channel. So far this season, we’ve seen the couple — who have been married for several years but have not yet had children — expand their family in a surprising way. They’ve taken in Lee’s teenage niece Rachel

In a May 2020 interview with Entertainment Tonight, the two actors agreed that the question of whether Rosemary and Lee would have kids was something the show needed to answer in season 8.

“We’ve been talking about it off and on for quite a few seasons now, and we both feel that this is something that has to be addressed,” Smith says. “We both feel … that it needs to be the next evolution of this family. They deserve this.”

Hutton agreed. “This is a storyline that’s been percolating for a long time,” she said. “We need answers now.”
