YOU'D be hard to find anyone who didn't know who the famous Jackson family are, thanks to their long career in the spotlight.

But some fans often wonder about matriarch of the family, Katherine Jackson.

Who is Joe Jackson's wife Katherine?

Katherine was born and raised in Clayton, Alabama, to Prince Albert and Martha Screws.

Sadly when she was just 2-years-old, she contracted polio.

In 1934 her father changed his name to Scruse and renamed his daughter Katherine Esther.

Joe and Katherine married in 1949 and had ten children, including twins Marlon and Brandon, the latter tragically died a few hours after birth.

She released her autobiography My Family, The Jacksons in 1990.

She detailed that her husband on more than a few occasions had committed adultery.

This prompted Katherine to file for divorce on March 9, 1973, in Los Angeles but later changed her mind.

The following year, Joh'Vonnie Jackson, Joe's daughter with another woman named Cheryl Terrell, was born on August 30, 1974.

Jackson attempted once again to divorce her husband in or around 1982, but again was persuaded to drop the action.

They remained married until his death in 2018.

How old is she?

The Jacksons' mother was born on May 4, 1930 which makes her 92-years-old.

As a youngster she wanted to be an actress or country singer.

She now lives in Calabasas, California, and has lived there since 2011.

What is her net worth?

It is not entirely clear as there have been numerous legal cases surrounding the family with claims to the family fortune.

As of October 2022, it has been claimed her net worth is $120million (£106m) but this has not been substantiated.

When her son Michael Jackson died he left a 40 per cent interest in his estate to his mother.

That 40 per cent will eventually go to Michael's children who themselves already control 40 per cent.

Michael's remaining 20 per cent went to a variety of children's charities.
